We are a part of a world with a past. Historical Fiction allows us to re-enter the past and be touched deeply by it.
Instead of reading about or memorizing a list of facts, e.g., the Holocaust happened, the Declaration of Independence was signed, etc. Historical Fiction takes us on a journey into the depths of feeling what it was like to experience the emotions of living during that time period. Such as in Charles Dickens’ Historical Fiction,
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness.”
I literally cried for three days after reading Dickens’s famous novel, The Tale of Two Cities.
Historical Fiction can move us and illuminate our soul to experience historical events as we come to our own thoughts and conclusions about what it was like for real people to live in such a time and place.
WHY HISTORICAL ROMANCE NOVELS?
With the chaos surrounding us, I will go out on a limb and say that Romance Novels are more important to the world than ever before.
I think we all would agree that Love is the most powerful force on the earth. And every facet of Love is depicted and emotionally felt in a truly good historical romance novel.

Perhaps North Korea knows the impact a romance novel can have to move the hearts of people. Maybe that is why, as the Governing elite desires to horrifically suppress their people, they have banned all books & movies that depict romance. Why? Because all love, especially romantic love, touches on the heart of God and tells us that we are more than just the physical world around us. We are created to love and to be loved.
